Norfolk
North Norfolk is an area of outstanding natural beauty. Huge rolling
fields spread down to the heritage coast with its pine forest walks,
coastal paths and miles of sandy beaches. The coast is rich in bird
life throughout the year and there are RSPB and local wildlife trust
nature reserves. Details of many walks can be found in the cottage.
Places to Visit
Unfortunately the train can no longer take the strain in this part
of the world but the coastal bus service is excellent and visits
most of the places listed below.
Holkham Hall
and Estate - 3 miles - historic house, deer park, pottery, tea
rooms, gift shop and the Victoria Hotel for meals. Lady Ann’s
Drive, opposite the estate entrance, will provide parking and access
to pine walks and wonderful beaches.
Brancaster - parking and easy access to
miles of sandy beach for families.
Brancaster
Staithe - 6 miles - has a sailing club.
Burnham
Overy Staithe -2 miles, excellent walk along the top of the
sea defences to quiet sandy beach and dunes.
Burnham Thorpe - The birthplace of Lord
Nelson is just 1.25 miles down the road.
The Lord Nelson public house still boasts the seats at which
he supped his ale. The church and churchyard where his family are
buried contains a small Nelson museum.
Thornham - 7 miles - The
Lifeboat Inn has excellent food and again the coast path walk
will lead you across dykes to sandy beaches and nature reserve.

Fakenham - 10 miles - has supermarkets
and Thursday Open Air Market.
Hunstanton

World, Bowling Green, Fair Ground and a Wednesday market.
Kings
Lynn - 24 miles - historical buildings, quaint back streets

Wells, Cromer and Sheringham are fishing towns and villages spread
along the coast and within easy reach. Boat trips to see the seals

Sandringham
- 18 miles.
Seal Trips - Morston, Blakeney
and Wells all provide boat trips to the
unique colony of over 200 grey and common seals off Blakeney
Point. A marvellous sight.
This is just a snippet of a variety of interesting places, which
are easily visited. |
