The village has a butcher, baker (have not found the candlestick maker yet, although candles are plentiful!), fishmonger, delicatessen, newsagent, book shops, chemist, Post Office, grocers, clothes and shoe shops. The village prides itself on the individuality of its stores. Ladies looking for a hat for that special occasion cannot afford to miss visiting The Hat Shop - an experience in itself. There is a NatWest branch in the village. Eating in, or eating out, the village can cater for your needs. The Hoste Arms is a village favourite and attracts visitors from far and wide. Locally caught fresh fish can also be purchased from Gurneys or the 'fish sheds' along the coastal road and in the summer season buy some samphire - a local delicacy - cook quickly and serve with butter! If meat and game is your taste visit Howells and you will not be disappointed. Burnham Market has two tennis courts, bowling green and children's play area just a minutes walk from the cottage. |
