Barley Cottage as lovely as ever and a great base from which to get out and enjoy North Norfolk. Weather couldn’t have been better so we’ve been out walking and visiting Titchwell, Holme and Cley reserves. Made great use of the Coastal Hopper – great to leave the car behind and enjoy being driven! Delicious fresh mussels and fries at the Jolly Sailors in Brancaster. We’ve made good use of the shops in BM – Gurneys still a favourite. The week has gone so quickly! Susan and Don

A great holiday in Burnham Market and Barley Cottage. We went to Hunstanton Beach, Holkham Beach, Wells-Next-The-Sea and Brancaster Beach. I would recommend the restaurant Socious with its brilliant pesto paste and plates. We also went to the Nelson and The White Horse. On Tuesday we went to Holkham Hall and hired a boat out and saw a baby heron and about a 100 deer all together. We went inside and got to play a mini grand piano. Bridget, Estrild, Paddy and Swithin

Such an amazing cottage in a great location. We really have had the best week and can’t thank Sue and Andrew enough. The weather has been fab. We have been to Wells and Old Hunstanton Beaches (busy but great fun!) The food in the Nelson pub was the best. We also ate in the Hoste and No29. We will deffo be back. A lovely cottage in a great location, its very peaceful and relaxing here. Some great local walks and plenty of cafes and local amenities – fishmongers is well worth a visit and so is the Hat Shop. The Hoste is a cute pub and ideal for a drink in the sunshine but don’t bother eating there. The White Horse at Brancaster is well worth a visit – excellent food and great views.

Lovely spring week at Barley Cottage, the perfect location for exploring North Norfolk and the best spot in Burnham Market. The cottage is beautifully furnished with everything we need for a relaxing holiday. Highlights included a visit to Sandringham, seeing the walled garden at Holkham and meals at The Hero and Galton Blakiston’s fish restaurant No1 in Cromer. We will be back. Di, Mike and Lucy

Yet another wonderful week at Barley cottage. Brent geese a plenty. Weather kind. Most showers at night. Highlight – flying swans at Titchwell and a Kingfisher. Catching three fish at Flitcham Abbey Farm. Plus many red kites – and Palace got a point at Arsenal. Who could ask for more. Pat, Ian, Gordon and Su

Another lovely relaxing week again this year. Our walks are getting shorter but we still enjoyed Holkham to Wells and back. We had a nice pasta meal at The Ostrich on our wet day. We do like the new kitchen/dining lay-out. Very easy to move around. The grass is looking good. Thank you.

In spite of poor weather we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely warm and comfortable cottage. It is in a wonderful position with a large car park and in a great position to visit the North Norfolk coastline.

We have had a fantastic holiday in Barley Cottage! Such a beautifully presented and well equipped cottage and in a wonderful location! We have enjoyed days out at Brancaster and Holkham beaches, as well as trying out the High Ropes and cycling at Holkham Estate. Thank you for a lovely holiday. Ben, Jen, Eva and Rosa

Thank you – we have had a super week in Barley Cottage. It is perfectly situated and is very well thought out and has everything we have needed. We have really enjoyed sampling the food from Gurney’s and Humble Pie. We have also made good use of Uttings and Howells the butchers. Dillon at Burnham Cycles has been great and we have had two excellent days out cycling. We’ve enjoyed the High Ropes at Holkham and the Servants Tours and Attic Tour. Titchwell and walking to the beach from Burnham Overy Staithe showed this part of the world at its best. Richard Julie and Emily – Aldburgh, Suffolk

It was lovely to see Barley Cottage again and we felt at home straight away. After a year of lockdown, it was wonderful to see that the local birdlife (and hares and deer!) and the local shops have survived and are getting on with life, regardless. Walked for miles, although the local marsh at Burnham Norton is as nice as anything. Look out for the Spoonbills. As usual we really enjoyed the food from the local shops and will miss Gurney’s! Thank you for making Barley Cottage so welcoming, Sue and Andrew. Sue and Don – Co Durham

What a brilliant introduction for us to the Burnhams and North Norfolk! Especially interesting after lockdown. Thoroughly enjoyed walking on all the local walks, Holkham Gap and anywhere near the sea. Almost worked through all the helpful suggestions from Sue and Andrew. Highspots: Mermaid fish and chips; Ghost Ship at the Nelson; working our way through all that Gurneys has to offer; excellent whole wild seabass and brown shrimps. Hard to think of anywhere else where shopping local is such a pleasure. Barley Cottage is so well equipped and perfectly positioned. Thanks so much.

We are out of lockdown and what better place to spend our first holiday in months than beautiful Barley cottage. It is looking smarter than ever with its new kitchen and has everything anyone could need for a perfect break. It is ideally situated to explore the North Norfolk coast and we were lucky with the weather, so did lots of walks. Blakeney to Cley was especially enjoyable with coffee and scones at the excellent Arthur’s café as a reward. We also shivered through outdoor meals at The Hoste and White Horse, Brancaster. Both very good.

Such a wonderful week and so happy towe were able to have it here. The cottage is so comfy and relaxing - we had to spend whole day inside due to the rain and I was very haoppy to spend that time here. I enjoyed exploring Burnham Market, in particular the Barefoot Retreat shop and had a very yummy dinner at The Hoste and No29 Despite the weather we were aable to fir in some nice walks, in particular Holkham to Welols with a nice cafe at the end! I'll definitely be returning.

Just what we needed, a change of scenery. We have been in lockdown for so many weeks we certainly want to alter our routine next week if that is at all possible. We have enjoyed a relaxing week with lovely weather. A quick walk to Burnham Norton. All the world at Holkham trekking to the seashore, the tide was well out. A pleasant walk through Ringstead Downs to Hunstanton Park – lucky it was Thursday! Thank you. Pat and Bob

We had a really relaxing break here in Barley Cottage. We found everything we needed and lots of ‘extras’ as well. We both slept very soundly as it’s super quiet and peaceful, apart from the occasional owl hooting! Thanks so much

"We have once again returned to Barley Cottage because everything is convenient and the surroundings very pretty and pleasant. It’s so very easy to ‘chill out’ in this well presented, spacious cottage where nothing is left to chance, (such a well equipped kitchen!). The location is ideal, a two minute stroll from the heart of the village and great places to eat. We would recommend this cottage to anyone wanting a change from the bustle and stress of life."

"Thanks again Sue and Andrew for the use of your lovely holiday home Barley Cottage, a perfect home from home in North Norfolk. It has everything anyone could need for a comfortable stay and the location couldn’t be better, only a minute’s walk from the centre of buzzy Burnham Market with its great shops and restaurants, but in a quiet cul de sac with private parking, a real bonus! It’s easy to get from here to the coast with its wonderful beaches, and to local attractions including Holkham Hall. I have lost count of the number of wonderful holidays we have enjoyed here, both as a couple and with our family. This one was no exception and we can’t wait for our next one!" " We have really enjoyed our stays at Barley Cottage over the past few summers. Being a short walk from the shops and restaurants of Burnham market is ideal and the cottage is very comfortable and the owners Sue and Andrew , very friendly and welcoming. There are lots of good walks in the local area and the sea is a short drive away, including the beaches at Holkham and Holme. The cottage also has good parking and a small garden for outside dining and barbecuing. All in all a really nice place to stay. "

"We fell in love with Barley Cottage the first time we saw it. Our holiday begins the moment we walk in and we're soon walking down to the local marshes, following the Coast Path and visiting the wonderful nature reserves nearby. Great food shops on the doorstep, access to the Coastliner bus and lovely Barley Cottage itself add up to the perfect combination for us. That's why we keep coming back!" Don and Susan, County Durham

We have been staying at Barley Cottage at least once a year, usually 3-4 times for the last 20 years! It is the perfect cottage to escape the busy city life and has everything one needs for a longer stay as well. It has become a home away from home and Sue and Andrew are very friendly and super easy to deal with.

"Barley Cottage has been our annual choice for over fifteen years , what better endorsement. The cottage provides everything to ensure a relaxing carefree holiday and it is an ideal location from which to explore beautiful North Norfolk. Self catering and dining out are catered for equally in Burnham Market and it's environment. Excellent parking and easy access to public transport. Wholeheartedly recommended." A&A from Upminster
